Job description

The Local Product Promoter is responsible to evaluate products, challenge the forecasts for new varieties, participating in their commercial launch of new products, and supports in marketing and communication efforts.

Primary Functions

  • GENERAL ACTIVITIES

The Local Product Promoter will assist the Product Development Manager with the following activities:

Specific Responsiblities

  • Allocate the availability of seed samples of each variety for the development trials within its area & segment.
  • Schedule, coordinate and implement development trials of DV1 and DV2 (sometimes T3 with marketing) in their area & segment with the following objectives:
    • To judge the agronomic performance and the adaptability of a variety in comparison to leading varieties within the market
    • To evaluate the adaptability of the variety with respect to the target distribution and consumption chains
    • Identify the competitive advantages, the selling points and the challenges to overcome
  • Carry out and update market research studies (segmentation, analysis of the competition, tracking and identification of the dynamic forces that drive change). To continuously improve the knowledge of the market by type of client with the objective of contributing to the development of business plans and strategic plans.
  • Organize the promotional events developed and conducted for the benefit of both direct and indirect clients. To organize market visits for clients.
  • Establish, monitor, implement and roll out of the annual external communication plan and its budget in cooperation with external communication department in La Ménitré.
  • According to the positioning given by the marketing, to develop the selling points at the local level.

Contributory Activities

  • To give the necessary information to the Product Development Manager to establish the forecast (in terms of volume, quality and timelines), for the first year of sales, of the new varieties that are in DV1 and DV2 phase.
  • To communicate to his/her manager on specific information before product advancement meetings.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural related field (or equivalent job experience)
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of Baby Leaf lettuce, Baby Leaf Greens, and Brassicas  
  • Knowledge and understanding of seed industry preferred 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database capabilities 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record 
  • Ability to work in various climates both indoors and outdoors 
  • Spanish speaking a plus
