IV.     Purpose

Establish and maintain accounts in the Salinas Region as assigned.  Gain an understanding of market trends and growers’ needs while working closely with the Product Development team to identify vegetable varieties (leafy and brassica varieties) suited for the region and customers. 

Main Goal

V.      Primary Functions

Sales

    • Maintain, introduce, and establish our proprietary leafy and brassica varieties through product trialing with written evaluations of trial performance for our partners
    • Manage and improve relations with grower accounts in the Salinas region
    • Expand customer base within the region with our leafy and brassica portfolio
    • Assist in the planting and evaluation of leafy and brassica trials
    • Take an active approach on local complaints or claims from inception and follow up with our internal process
    • Stay in close communication with the Warehouse Manager for delivery of orders as necessairy. Seed order deliveries are a must as needed when the Warehouse is unavailable
    • Propose & support actions to achieve the sales target in assigned regions such as payment terms, early cash collection incentive, rebates, commercial gestures, etc. (no authority to validate)
    • Communicate supply-related information to the local team and partners such as shortages, quality, and delays – prepare a backup plan to mitigate the business impact

Sales Effectiveness and Region Leadership

  • Implement and maintain high forecast accuracy through the use of our internal planning tool. The forecast accuracy will be a measurable indicator reviewed at the start of each fiscal year
  • With the support of Legal and Manager, implement agreements with your customer where applicable
  • Implement and maintain customer sales effectiveness though a company provided format. Historic and current forecast will be followed with action plans reviewed and discussed with Manager
  • Provide Sales leadership and support employee development as applicable
  • Implement the use of the Company Customer Relationship Management tool to accurately track accounts;

Product Development and Research & Development

  • Bi-annual forecast update (February & June each year) by Variety / Product Form / month to prepare the S&OP process
  • Monthly updates
  • Revising gross sales for the coming three months (due 1st of each month)
  • Briefly explain (2-3 sentences) why the variance from the forecast by variety
  • Responsible for selling varieties at end of the lifecycle
  • Participate and have an action plan for surplus inventory outside of the life cycle

Sales Forecasting
