Function

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Vilmorin-Mikado USA is looking for its new Accounting Manager. In this role, you will direct the accounting, tax and review payroll affairs of the subsidiary and you will be responsible for the company's policies, accounting practices and compliance under US GAAP and IFRS, and the maintenance of its fiscal records.

  • Responsible to protect the company assets.
  • Advisor to the operational team regarding accounting matters.
  • Government reporting, tax & compliance.
  • Supervision over general accounting and payroll.
  • Support implementation of operational best practices.

Main Goal

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1.  Management

 

  • Manage the personnel in the accounting department to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory costing, fixed assets, sales/use & property taxes, general accounting functions, royalties, intercompany transactions/reconciliation and payroll.
  • Recommend training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the department.
  • Manage external relationships with auditors, outsourced payroll service, banks, tax and other consultants.
  • Support local and unit human resources, coordinate and consult with internal (including sister company) HR and Legal on various issues.
  • Act as a consultant and/or be the key contact for potential corporate financial moves or projects.
  • Act as key user for JDE. Be the finance main contact for the maintenance, development, or the implementation of company systems.
  • Partner and backup to the FP&A Analyst Position and HRBP.

Job description

Reporting & Analysis

  •  Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end account balances.
  • In coordination with the FP&A Analyst, assist the Unit Finance Director in establishing economic objectives and policies. This includes impairment testing analysis, transfer pricing application and follow-up, due diligence, participation with global policy development and other specifics.

Transactions

  •  Oversee the recording of journal entries (including IFRS journal entries) required to reflect the monthly activity.
  • Oversee the record keeping: organization and maintenance of paper & electronic files.

Compliance

  • Oversee the preparation of workpapers supporting the annual review/audit. Coordinate the preparation of the review with the external auditors.
  • Oversee the preparation of workpapers supporting the annual tax return and quarterly reports. Coordinate the preparation of annual tax return and R&D credit process with outside CPA firm.

What we expect of you

Education and/or Experience                                             

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major.
  • CPA certification or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ten-key by touch.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.
  • Bilingual in French or Spanish language a plus.
