Job description

  • Manage the breeding processes under their responsibility
  • Supervise & challenge the breeding strategies for a group of species
  • Define the associated budget and be responsible for the execution of this budget during the year
  • Validate the organization and technology resources associated with the development and implementation of each breeding program
  • Work in close collaboration with the Facilities Managers for the implementation of the breeding programs present on each site (POS)
  • Work with the Research Laboratory Manager to allow and facilitate the transfer of technologies and tools to the breeding programs for the groups of speicies
  • Favor the optimization of the breeding process and seeds supply for the group of species with the aim of delivering new varieties in a faster way
  • Promote innovation at all levels
  • Sharing best practices, technological innovation and information systems developments within and between the breeders of the different groups of species
  • Ensure Freedom to Operate for the group of species and develop Intellectual Property on germplasm and innovations with both internal and external actors, in relation with adequate procedure (Protocol for acquisition of Breeding material)
  • Visit breeding (and development) trials as needed

Main Goal

  • Manage breeding teams by determining goals and objectives for the breeding program for which the Breeding Manager is responsible.
  • Ensure that approprate efforts are applied to the selected species in line with the company strategy in order to provide competitive varieties for designated markets.
  • Ensure that the breeding teams are consistent in the way they apply and follow defined methods
  • Validate adequate facilities 
  • Oversee and control overall research budget related to his species and contribute to the global research budget
  • Validate internal and external partnerships (LVS projects, contracts with public institutes and private companies).  
  • Actively participate in the meetings (Head of Research, Breeding Managers, Research Laboratory Manager, Facilities Manager , IP Manager) that pilot the totality of WW Research activities.

What we expect of you

  • Higher education, Engineer or Master's Degree / Doctorate in Agronomic and/or Biological science with specialization or experience in plant breeding
  • Minimum 5 year's experience as a manager within the field of implementing a breeding (or trial) program
  • In addition, similar experience within the field of product development
  • Sector: Agribusiness - ideally seed business
  • Ability to multitask due to the complexity of job tasks to perform in parallel
  • Interaction with employees basic education to University+level and strong personalities inside and outside to company
  • Extensive travelling accross different time zones will be required
