Limagrain, a world leader in seeds and cereal-based products, is hiring a Senior Bioinformatician to strengthen the Bioinformatics team within its Vegetable Seeds Business Line (LVS).

You will work in a dynamic international environment in LVS, the world's #1 vegetable seed company.

You will be part of the Trait & Technology organization, contributing to the development of genomics and bioinformatics activities supporting plant breeding programs.

The Team

At the heart of genomic innovation, the Bioinformatics team plays a key role in leveraging genomic data to better understand phenotypic traits, discover new genes, and advance molecular genetics.

Using cutting-edge sequencing technologies and systems biology approaches, the team continuously develops innovative methodologies to manage, analyze, and make genomic data (genomes, annotations, variations, expression data) accessible.

These analyses, including comparative genomics, pangenomics, and gene networks, are tailored to the needs of a diverse user community, including geneticists and pathologists.

Main Goal

As a Senior Bioinformatician, your main missions will include:

  • Developing tools and methodologies for the Trait and Biotechnology teams
  • Maintaining these tools and providing user support and training, mainly via an internal Galaxy platform
  • Leading projects related to pangenomic analysis and gene discovery through systems biology approaches
  • Collaborating on reverse genetics projects with cross-functional teams in genetics, pathology, genomics, and cell biology
  • Conducting regular scientific and technological watch
  • Providing local support to the Genomics team for the use of computing resources and managing infrastructure for Oxford Nanopore sequencers

What we expect of you

  • PhD (or equivalent, Bac+8) with 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree (Bac+5) with 10 years of experience in bioinformatics or a related field
  • Strong command of bioinformatics tools for omics data analysis
  • Solid background in genomics, transcriptomics, molecular biology, and biochemistry, with the ability to tailor solutions for non-specialist users
  • Proven experience in pangenomics, gene networks, and/or protein-protein interaction analysis
  • Proficiency in programming (Python or R) and scripting (Bash) with best practices in software development (Git, DevOps)
  • Knowledge of AI and language models is a plus
  • Experience in Unix-based high-performance computing environments
  • Experience working with Galaxy and creating workflows (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow) is preferred
  • Scientific curiosity, strong communication skills, and an active approach to staying updated with the latest research and technologie
