Job overview

Limagrain Vegetable Seeds is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Team Lead for our Genomics and Metabolomics team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and executing innovative strategies for: sequencing technologies, gene expression, protein structural biology and metabolomics, to deliver state of the art, efficient and cutting-edge technologies to our organization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Genomics & Metabolomics Scientists, providing guidance, strategic direction, and mentorship.
  • Accountable for translating Trait & Technology global strategy into concrete objectives, and plans for Scientists of the domain.
  • Accountable for Genomics and Metabolomics Discovery domain specific projects portfolio
  • Establish a collaborative and innovative research environment to foster scientific excellence and to encourage diverse perspectives and groundbreaking discoveries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align research priorities (project portfolio) with business and scientific goals.
  • Develop and Implement guidelines, processes and KPIs in the domain to efficiently measure progress and provide clear data-driven reporting to strategic management.
  • Address challenges in protein science to enhance gene discovery efforts, including protein structure-function analysis and interaction studies.
  • Ensure seamless integration of heterogeneous multi-omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics, to address biological questions.
  • Work closely with Trait & Technology experts to enable the analysis of complex datasets fostering sequence use in all domains and proactively leverage sequence use in IP protections.
  • Build and maintain relationships with academic, and private collaborators in the domain. Represent the organization, in collaborations and scientific conferences.   

Skills

  • Leadership and team-building capabilities in an international / cross-cultural environment.
  • Ability to manage a team of scientists, to carry out prospective recruitment, with good understanding of the importance of people diversity; to deploy rules & policies with meaning.
  • Extensive Scientific experience in the Domain of genomics and metabolomics.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to introduce new ideas and drive changes associated
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, protein science or a related field with 10+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience of 5+ years of experience in people management
  • Fluent in English and French is a plus.
  • Training or experience in protein science is a plus.

Key Success Factors

  • Demonstrated experience in managing genomics or metabolomics teams in a research or industry setting.
  • Strong expertise in sequencing technologies, gene expression approaches, protein science and metabolomics/biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading successful projects and delivering results.

 

The position may be based either in Angers (Maine et Loire, France) or Davis (California, USA).
