Job description
You will be a great fit if you have experience similar to:
Laboratory Operations
• Perform plant tissue culture activities under aseptic conditions, such as:
• Anther culture
• Isolated microspore culture
• Ovary culture
• Embryo rescue
• Prepare basic culture media according to established protocols.
• Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, pipettes, flow cytometers, autoclaves, and laminar flow
hoods.
• Enter and maintain accurate data in LIMS and other laboratory tracking systems.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, glassware, basic stock supplies, and equipment to support daily operations.
Greenhouse & Plant Production Support (Minimum 25%)
• Perform assigned tasks in greenhouse or outdoor conditions (including heat and humidity).
• Collect samples and perform routine plant maintenance.
• Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions and pest activity.
• Assist with general greenhouse operations and production tasks as needed.
Team Support
• Provide support for ongoing research and production projects within Cell Biology and related teams.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality results.
• Participate in other departmental activities and projects as assigned.
What we expect of you
To be considered, you will need:
• High school degree required
• Scientific foundational knowledge of cell biology, plant biology, or related life sciences.
• Laboratory Experience and Aseptic Technique preferred
• General greenhouse experience preferred
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Biology, Plant Science, or related field preferred
Competencies
An ideal candidate will embody the following:

- Scientific foundational knowledge of cell biology, plant biology, or related life sciences.
- Aseptic technique to perform in vitro experiments without contamination. Good visual and manual dexterity to conduct daily activities required. Experience with plant tissue culture and greenhouse plant maintenance is preferred.
- Attention to detail during execution of routine laboratory tasks with continuous accurate, efficient, and high-quality results.
- Data collection and documentation experience using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) at a minimum. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (e.g., starLIMS) preferred.
- Effective Teamwork and Collaborative spirit with to effectively share workspace, equipment, and resources; able to work both independently and collaboratively to meet daily and weekly objectives. Comfortable working alongside, leading, and following directions in a diverse team structure.
- Written and verbal communication skills effective for documenting experiments, summarizing results, and communicating findings to supervisors and cross‑functional research or breeding teams and with team members across a diverse experience level.
- Adaptability, dependability, and a growth-oriented mindset with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, maintain reliable attendance, quickly learn new skills and technologies, and consistently deliver accurate, high-quality results in an efficiency driven research environment.

- Laboratory, walk-in incubators and refrigerators, growth chambers, and greenhouse and field environments.

- Ability to work in increased heat and/or humidity conditions in greenhouse or occasionally field.
- Ability to repeatedly stand/squat and lift in laboratory and greenhouse activities.
- Occasionally requires usage of ladder and working at moderate height.

o This position’s range is $19 - $24/hr
