Function

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biostatistician to join our dynamic research team at Limagrain Vegetable Seeds. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing innovative biostatistical tools and methods to support our breeding and genetic research programs. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with teams across multiple countries, contributing to the advancement of vegetables breeding and genetics. Additionally, the team you will join benefits from geographical proximity and numerous synergies with a team operating at Limagrain Field Seeds on similar topics.

Main Goal

  • Design and develop advanced biostatistical tools for breeding and discovery teams, ensuring their adaptation to various species, programs, and databases.
  • Integrate and deploy tools on a global scientific IT system
  • Adapt the tools and algorithms to modern data platform.
  • Ensure the production, support, and maintenance of developed analysis tools.
  • Collaborate closely with breeders and researchers to assist them in using analysis tools, train them, and gather their needs.
  • Provide occasional statistical expertise to breeding and discovery teams.

What we expect of you

  • You have a higher education degree in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative genetics (animal or plant breeding)
  • Strong proficiency in software development, particularly with the R ecosystem, CONDA, and GIT. Knowledge of Python.
  • Familiarity with handling large-scale data and developing biostatistical tools.
  • With good interpersonal skills, you enjoy providing support to operational teams.
  • Strong communication skills in English. French is an advantage.
  • Your organizational skills allow you to handle multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
  • Ideally, you have a good understanding of plant breeding challenges.

Job Location: Chappes, Puy de Dôme (63), France, ideally. Other locations may be possible. The workplace location will be determined based on the candidate's profile and preferences.
