Function

 

As part of a fixed-term replacement contract, we are recruiting a Barley Breeding Technician (M/F) to join our barley research team. The position is based in Verneuil-l'Étang (77), France.

Reporting to the Barley Breeder, you will contribute to the organization and implementation of the barley trial program activities, both in the field and at our research station. You will support the monitoring of experiments, the collection of data, and the implementation of protocols required for variety selection.

Main Goal

 

In this context, your main responsibilities will include:

  • You ensure the technical implementation of the winter and spring barley trial network: you prepare and carry out sowing operations, monitor crop development, and participate in the harvesting of trial plots;

  • You collect phenotypic data across the trial network, validate the data, and import it into internal IT systems;

  • You manage seed flows resulting from the harvest of trial plots, perform grain quality analyses, and validate and import the associated data;

  • You prepare and organize seed shipments required for the implementation of the trial network;

  • You supervise seasonal workers during peak activity periods, ensuring compliance with company safety regulations.

Due to the seasonal nature of barley cultivation, you are involved in both field activities (sowing, crop monitoring, scoring and evaluations), seed preparation and quality analysis of harvested samples, as well as office-based activities related to data validation and import.

What we expect of you

 

You hold at least a Bachelor’s degree (BSc, 2–3 years of higher education) in Plant Production or Plant Breeding, with initial professional experience in seed breeding or cereal crop production.
