Function

As part of the development of our Plant Production platform, dedicated to field crop research, we are looking for a Technical Assistant to oversee crop production under continuous generations in controlled environmental conditions (greenhouses, tunnels, growth and vernalization chambers).

Main Goal

L’agent technique aura pour principale responsabilité le suivi des cultures de blé en cycles accélérés, dans un objectif de production de semences, en collaboration étroite avec le référent de l’espèce. Il/elle pourra également être sollicité(e) ponctuellement pour intervenir sur d’autres espèces végétales cultivées au sein de la plateforme Plant Production.

 

En support opérationnel au référent de culture, l’agent(e) interviendra sur l’ensemble des étapes techniques liées à la conduite des cultures :

  • Préparation des semis, réalisation des semis, irrigation
  • Identification des plantes, prélèvements en vue du génotypage
  • Repiquage, tuteurage, castration, pollinisation manuelle
  • Récolte, battage/égrenage, conditionnement et stockage des semences
  • Élimination des plantes dans le cadre des vides sanitaires
  • Nettoyage et désinfection des compartiments et supports de culture
  • Entretien du petit matériel (électrovannes, rampes d’irrigation, etc.)
  • Travaux de désherbage et d’entretien horticole courant
  • Dans le cadre de travaux de logistique process, conduite de charriot élévateur.

Une partie de ces tâches s’inscrit dans un flux de production automatisé en développement, impliquant des opérations répétitives dans un environnement structuré.

 

Encadrement et responsabilités complémentaires

L’agent pourra être amené à encadrer du personnel en contrat temporaire, en s’assurant du bon déroulement des opérations techniques, du respect des protocoles définis par le référent de culture, ainsi que de l’application stricte des règles de sécurité.

Il/elle assurera également un rôle de relais technique en cas d’absence du référent, afin de garantir la continuité des activités de culture.

 

Contraintes et organisation du travail

  • Amplitude horaire variable selon la charge de travail et les saisons (prise de poste : 7h ou 8h en fonction de la météo et du planning). 
  • Une disponibilité renforcée pourra être requise lors des périodes de forte activité.
  • Une participation au travail les week-ends, jours fériés et dimanches est à prévoir selon le planning établi.

 

 

Job description

The Technical Assistant will be primarily responsible for monitoring accelerated wheat crop cycles with the goal of seed production, working closely with the crop reference specialist. The successful candidate may also be occasionally called upon to assist with other plant species cultivated on the Plant Production platform.

Main Duties

Supporting the crop reference specialist, the Technical Assistant will participate in all technical stages of crop management, including:

  • Preparing and performing sowing, irrigation

  • Identifying plants, sampling for genotyping

  • Transplanting, staking, emasculation, manual pollination

  • Harvesting, threshing/dehusking, seed processing and storage

  • Removing plants for sanitary clearance

  • Cleaning and disinfecting compartments and cultivation equipment

  • Maintaining small equipment (solenoid valves, irrigation booms, etc.)

  • Performing weeding and general horticultural maintenance

  • Operating a forklift for logistics-related tasks

Some of these tasks are part of a developing automated production flow, which includes repetitive operations in a structured environment.

 

Supervision and Additional Responsibilities

The Technical Assistant may be required to supervise temporary staff, ensuring smooth technical operations, strict adherence to protocols defined by the crop reference specialist, and compliance with safety regulations.

He/she will also act as a technical point of contact in the absence of the crop reference specialist, in order to maintain continuity in cultivation activities.

Work Conditions and Organization

  • Working hours may vary depending on workload and seasonal demands

  • Increased availability may be required during peak activity periods

  • Weekend, public holiday, and Sunday work will be scheduled as needed
