Within the Field Seeds Division, you will join the Applied Genomics Platform of the Traits & Technologies Research Department for a 12-months contract . Our mission is to transform high-throughput sequencing data into innovative solutions that accelerate plant breeding and varietal innovation.

Job description

As a Bioinformatician, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing the computational tools and infrastructure that support our genomics research activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the migration of bioinformatics tools and datasets to a new High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment.
  • Designing, developing, and optimizing bioinformatics analysis pipelines.
  • Participating in the development and deployment of internal graphical user interfaces to improve user experience and accessibility.
  • Supporting scientists and technical experts in the analysis and interpretation of complex biological data.
  • Documenting software, workflows, and procedures to ensure maintainability and long-term scalability.
  • Training users on newly deployed computational solutions and best practices.
  • Regularly presenting project results and technical developments to stakeholders and research teams.

What we expect of you

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree (MSc) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science applied to Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience in bioinformatics and the analysis of omics data.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of bioinformatics methods applied to genomics and other omics datasets.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python or R.
  • Solid experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Familiarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems and workload managers such as Slurm, LSF, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with workflow management platforms such as Nextflow and/or Galaxy.
  • Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker, Singularity, or Apptainer.
  • Understanding of genomics, genetics, and omics data, particularly in the context of plant science or crop breeding.
