Function
The Breeding Officer supports the wheat breeders in organizing and managing the variety development program.
This role contributes to the operational implementation of wheat breeding programs, ensuring alignment with the breeding objectives defined by the breeders.
Main Goal
Nursery Scoring and Pre-Selection

Perform systematic scoring (diseases, earliness, etc.) on nursery generations defined by the breeders

Carry out pre-selection of part of the nursery material in accordance with the defined selection criteria

Compile, verify, and import scoring data into the database
Organization, Monitoring, and Implementation of Nursery/Greenhouse Harvest

Prepare harvest operations and supervise harvest activities
-
Oversee and monitor harvest work, including labeling and verification
Monitoring of Trial Harvests (Site and French Network)

Oversee harvest operations at Verneuil: ensure the availability of required workforce and coordinate with the experimentation team

Monitor harvest operations and organize the return of trial samples from the French network

Compile, verify, and import trial and quality data

Manage a team of seasonal workers for bag preparation for upcoming winter quality analyses
Preparation of Nursery and Trial Sowing

Design nursery trial plans

Monitor seed sampling operations for shipment across the network

Randomize French network trial platforms

Verify and dispatch seeds
Sowing of Nursery and Trials

Carry out sowing of trial platforms on site
What we expect of you
You hold a Master’s degree or an Engineering degree in Agronomy.
You have solid agronomic knowledge (breeding schemes, plant material management, etc.).
You demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail, along with a high level of rigor and autonomy.
You are a team player with strong interpersonal skills and motivation.
You are comfortable supervising seasonal workers and are proficient in IT tools.
This position is open to early-career profiles or recent graduates seeking a first professional experience in plant breeding.
