Job Description: 

Role overview

  • To plan and control the 3 R&D Operations sites end-to-end activities according to Breeding, T&T (Traits and Technology) and other Operations interfaces teams requests in regard to process modeling and analysis for optimization and budget alignment.
  • To track actual execution and expenses, analyze change requests implications and suggest improvements.
  • To develop supporting models for optimizing planning and operations efficiency, recommend KPIs and analyze the Operations data accordingly using advanced statistical and analytical methodologies.
  • To act as the primary site’s liaison for R&D Planning & Breeding cycles to achieve R&D projects objectives. 

 

This role requires 25% travel between sites in the Netherlands

 

Main Goal

Your responsibilities

  • Consolidate NL Ops sites requirements to develop the annual, seasonal and monthly planning for the facilities, labor, materials, etc.
  • Collect actual performance, indicators, relevant data, inventory data, and adjust plans accordingly
  • Report periodically to the site’s managers for main KPIs, deviations from plan, and improvement recommendations
  • Proactively recommend potential improvements, analyze implications (seasonal and permanent Labor, utilization, peaks, etc.), and cost savings
  • Develop tools and procedures to model, standardize, synchronize and improve the planning and tracking methodologies
  • Seek for best utilization of the facilities, materials, headcount, machines, and energy through fine-tune modifications of Ops-Breeding activities
  • Verify alignment between sites planning practices
  • Support annual budgeting process per site and costing
  • Track monthly actual expenses (Opex and Capex) vs. budget, to control and maintain expenses per accounts and suggest improvements to Site Manager and R&D Finance controller
  • Report periodically to Sites Managers, R&D Global Operations Director, and to R&D MT for main KPIs, analytics, R&D activities performance, and recommend improvement
  • Execute on-floor time measurements, validations, setting procedures, align with stakeholders to set accurate models and processes
  • Define, adjust and document business processes (work instructions, process flows, etc.) to support the planning and controlling methodologies
  • Implement systems of planning and farm management, generate the required info to support the design, initiate and track lead and lag process indicators and flagging mechanism to support activity managers to track progress
  • Becoming the business acumen for relevant crops/segments/projects specific requirements, as well as specializing in detailed resources (sites, teams and activities) capacity capabilities and limitations  
  • Synchronize safety and quality data for the three NL Ops sites to achieve safe environment, meeting targets and foster continuous improvements approach

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering/logistics or related field (M.Sc. preferred)
  • Practical experience in planning a similar accountability role (Agricultural sector preferred)
  • Experience process design, process modelling and process improvement
  • Practical modeling experience (simulations, analytical models, large scale capacity analysis) – Preferred
  • ERP systems (or similar MRP systems) hands-on planning and reporting experience – Preferred
  • R&D Related activity planning experience preferred (multiple small volumes processes large product types) – Preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
