Function

Research & Development(Breeding)

Main Goal

In accordance with the business strategy defined by Company Leadership, the Breeder will define and execute the breeding strategy to create innovative and competitive varieties for target markets.Provide the company with new varieties in their target market segments by searching for the appropriate genetic resources and implementing the best technologies and methods available

 

Job description

• Under the Breeding Coordinator, define the breeding strategy and develop a genetic improvement program to create new and original varieties in line with company business objectives and market needs.
• Develop and maintain a well-planned breeding program that is balanced and provides commercial products for key markets.
• Design and implement trialing plans for key markets.
• Stay current with technology developments in pertinent sciences and introduces innovation to breeding program where appropriate; and monitor the position of competitor's products.
• Develop awareness of market context and aligns program direction strategic and technical accordingly.
• Coordinate the implementation of programs through a network of breeding stations and screening sites and leverage current research technologies.
• Manage and Maximize the use of all resources allocated to the breeding program(s): human, technical, budget/financial
• Strategically collaborate with key partners, internal and external
