Job Description: 

Main Goal

The objective of this position is to lead hybrid line development and breeding activities for the crop.

The role involves close collaboration with the local breeding, research, and operations teams, as well as frequent interaction with the PD, Marketing, Commercial, and Production departments.

The position includes frequent travel.

Job description

  • Lead the development and implementation of breeding programs, including planning and tracking growing activities, pollination, evaluation of genetic material, and selection.
  • Provide leadership, management, and professional support to the local breeding team.
  • Translate the crop R&D strategy into approved, product-oriented breeding projects and operational plans.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of the crop, products, and customer needs through close collaboration with marketing and sales teams.
  • Optimize breeding success through the implementation and integration of state-of-the-art breeding technologies.
  • Travel to relevant markets for trials and product evaluation.

What we expect of you

  • MSc or PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of practical experience in vegetable breeding.
  • Practical knowledge of statistics, experimental design, and modern breeding technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team.
  • Well organized, methodical, and able to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a strong ability to quickly learn new computer programs.
  • Willingness to travel abroad.
