Job description
You are the link between our global network of plant breeders, working with regional product development to deliver commercial products for local markets.
Key responsibilities:
Client base
- Build & maintain our client base through regular visits and contact with customers to understand and meet their specific needs in an ever-changing market
- Our customer base includes: Growers/farmers/end users of our seed products; plant raising nurseries; local horticultural distributors, produce marketers, retail chains
Product development
- Work with product development team to develop and execute a trial plan that targets key markets
- This includes placing variety trials with key customers, assessing those trials and reporting on adaptability and commercial potential of new genetics
Sales
- Consistently update a sales forecast based on your understanding of the local market
- Develop and execute a strategy to meet sales forecast targets with support from the regional business manager
Key Selection Criteria
Must-Have: Highly organised, Interpersonal Skills & Teamwork, Attention to detail
Technical / Behavioral Skills: Excellent oral & written communication, excellent time management skills, proactive problem solving skills, demonstrate responsibility for actions & decisions, professionalism and sales and negotiation skills, desire to travel extensively in the assigned territory and work outdoors.
Systems / Software: Intermediate MS Office experience
Experience (Industry): Preferred but not necessary.
Experience (Years): 3 years minimum in a related agricultural position required
Education: Tertiary qualifications in horticulture or agriculture preferred but not essential
Licenses / Certifications: Drivers licence
