POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:  
As a recognized authority and subject matter expert, develops and implements challenging new market / business development plans, which will meet business goals of providing the best varieties possible for customers, as well as considerably expanding customer base in the sales area. May provide guidance to the support team for the achievement of customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term account goals in line with company vision and values. Evaluates new products with an effective trialing program to identify products to be recommended for advancement to meet the needs of the target market. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. The amount of time spent on sales vs. product development functions will vary based on the location of the TSR, business strategy and market requirements. This position will manage Technical Sales Representatives and coordinate with the PD team for the specified territory with the objective of developing a range of vegetable seed products and sales, with the proper market knowledge, while increasing market share, managing profitability of the region and enlarging the grower base, grower shipper base, and any other possible customer base of the Business Unit of HM.CLAUSE within the scope of the defined commercial strategy including efficient distribution channel(s).

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•    Leads and supervises the vegetable seed Sales and Product Development (PD) team within the assigned territory, in alignment with the Regional Business Frame and in support of the National PD Manager. 
•    Implements regional product development and sales strategies to grow market share, profitability, and overall BU performance within the territory. 
•    Develops and executes sales action plans to achieve annual sales, margin, and growth objectives; manages expenses within the approved budget. 
•    Serves as the primary commercial and technical interface for strategic customers and partners, maintaining strong, long term relationships. 
•    Initiates and maintains relationships with key customers through regular sales calls, travel, and ongoing communication. 
•    Provides high level technical expertise, product knowledge, and solutions to complex customer needs; escalates critical issues to the Regional Manager as appropriate. 
•    Coordinates and develops annual and long term trial plans with Product Development Specialists, Marketing, and other stakeholders to address customer and market needs. 
•    Oversees the execution of product performance trials, including delivery of seed samples and submission of trial evaluations, to assess new varieties and identify features and benefits. 
•    Analyzes trial data and makes recommendations to advance new products into the commercial portfolio. 
•    Monitors and reports on regional PD, sales, market, and competitive activities; consolidates sales forecasts and manages performance against forecasts. 
•    Anticipates market trends and competitive dynamics, maintaining strong knowledge of competitor products and identifying opportunities for new varieties and growth. 
•    Collaborates cross functionally with Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR to support decision making and drive business initiatives. 
•    Drives complex transformation and growth initiatives in partnership with Regional Business Managers and Product Development leadership. 
•    Represents the business professionally at trade shows, field days, industry forums, and strategic external engagements. 
•    Provides guidance, technical expertise, and support to Territory Sales Representatives (TSRs) and other functional teams; prepares detailed monthly sales and PD reports communicating key market, customer, and performance insights.

What we expect of you

Education and/or Experience 

  • Requires a minimum of a B.S. in Agronomy or Horticulture, or equivalent field.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in the Vegetable industry preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
