Job Description: 

Main goal

  • Lead and manage Pepper breeding activities for Europe, Americas, Middle East and Africa in accordance with the Limagrain Vegetable Seeds (LVS) R&D Strategy,
  • Direct Pepper breeding programs with Breeding Coordinators and Breeders to achieve goals and objectives set during Strategic Crop reviews, Breeding Program reviews, Development Management review,
  • Actively develop breeding teams and individuals (technical & managerial competencies),
  • Promote constructive global interactions and exchanges with breeding programs in other crops, with Asia colleagues and across Limagrain Vegetable Seeds,
  • Define and manage the Pepper breeding organization with regard to staff, budget, and technology resources associated with the development and execution of each breeding program to deliver objectives,
  • Act as interface with marketing teams to secure alignment of breeding programs with market needs. Lead the development strategies and directions for Pepper,

Key responsabilities, other duties may be assigned

  • As part of the Breeding Leadership Team, collaborate with breeding management throughout the world, and contribute to global R&D strategy, breeding program reviews,
  • Work together with LVS counterpart and marketing leaders in order to contribute to strategic Crop Reviews and Project Portfolio definition and build Pepper R&D Strategy,
  • Represent R&D in cross functional committee: maximize crop market share & profitability and develop products, align on strategy priorities and main projects,
  • Define the Pepper breeding organization in regard to Global Strategy, staff, budget, and technology resources associated with the development and implementation of each breeding program,
  • Work together with R&D Operation and Trait & Technology Application leaders by providing direction/priorities for the implementation of the breeding programs at each site,
  • Collaborate with other breeding leaders and technology teams to advance on the breeding strategic roadmap initiatives and optimize the breeding process,
  • Act as R&D leader for Spain. As delegated, represent the Business Unit HM.Clause in collaborations or partnerships with the group (LVS), as well as with external organizations such as universities and institutes,
  • Manage Pepper breeding teams (breeding coordinators & breeders) and ensure a framework of management, training and skill development for teams and individuals,
  • Ensure the implementation, among the breeding teams, of the company rules,
  • Responsible for breeding budget, OPEX execution throughout the year

What we expect of you

Minimum of master’s degree in an Agronomic and/or Biological Science, with specialization in plant genetics and breeding,

At least 10 years of management and product development experience, including five years of experience managing a breeding program,

Must be proficient both in Spanish and in English; French is a plus,

Strong leadership and management skills. Open-minded, positive attitude, and capacity to lead change,

Result-oriented. Long- & short-term vision. Financial analysis for strategic decision making. Ability to create innovative environment,

Willingness to travel frequently, domestic & international (30%)
