Job description
You will be a great fit if you have experience similar to:
• Manages and lead a team of full-time technicians, seasonals and contract labor
• Assist in hiring and onboarding of new laboratory staff
• Responsible for one of the areas assigned
• Responsible for scheduling daily operations of full time and seasonal lab technicians based on sample priorities, including ensuring execution of daily tasks are carried out efficiently and in a timely
manner.
• Responsible for forecasting lab supplies and chemical inventory for the areas assigned
• Conduct seed health assays following established protocols
• Responsible for verifying result interpretation and releasing test results in Starlims
• Responsible in execute, review and evaluate laboratory procedures and policies for operating functions of the lab.
• Responsible for monitoring critical control points and document control for the assigned testing platform
• Assist in troubleshooting in various testing procedures
• Responsible to implement optimization according to the directives given by lab manager and based on the developments made by the research team/seed health testing expert
• Assist with activities to fulfill audit requirement as established by accrediting agencies
• Participates in internal and external audits related to the laboratory's accreditations
• Participates in the implementation of inter-laboratory tests (organized by NAL, NSHS...) and internal ring tests
• Responsible in maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Responsible for training technician I, II, III seasonal employees and contract labor on specific tasks/testing platform
• Assist in monitoring maintenance and service agreement of equipment
• Responsible in generating certificates for breeder samples
• Perform other tasks as assigned
What we expect of you
To be considered, you will need:
• B.S. Degree in Plant Pathology, Plant Science or biology is preferred, however, candidates with
equivalent working experience will be considered.
• 1-2 years of experience in supervisory role
• 3-4 years of experience in testing lab environment; some direct experience in seed health testing
• A working knowledge of plant disease and seed health testing experience on vegetable seeds
will be an asset.
• Basic computer skills required in Excel and Word; ability to work in PowerPoint

With Associates: $26 - $32/hr - With Bachelors: $30 - $37/hr
Our total compensation and pay ranges reflect our market pay structures. As such, individual salaries or hourly rates are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: local geographical market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as job related skills, education, and experience.
