Job description
You will be a great fit if you have experience similar to:
• Familiarize with production practices of raising hybrid seed corn.
• Collect early season stand data, flowering, plant height, ear and plant pictures, harvesting plots, and post harvest data.
• Participate in herbicide trials and identify herbicide damage.
• Visit production fields to gather pictures for hybrid information sheets.
• Observe inbred trials in the Production Research and Stock Seed nursery.
• Meet with production personnel about different issue involved in seed production of each variety.
• Enter data into Excel and Access files.
• Possible travel outside the Treasure Valley that may involve overnight stay. Moses Lake WA, Twin Falls ID.
• Participation in Foundation Seed hand pollinations as needed.
• Complete assigned tasks in a timely, efficient, safe and effective manner.
• At the end of employment prepare a summary and possible presentation of what was learned and a perspective on the seed industry.
• Work outdoors in high heat and walk in uneven surfaces found in seed production fields. Tolerance to corn pollen is required.
• Participate in monthly Safety Training and Meetings.
• Licensed and able to drive a company vehicle.
