Job description

You will be a great fit if you have experience similar to: 

•    Assist with all aspects of the breeding program activities (seed preparation, planting, trial evaluation, data collection, tissue sampling, database management, shipping, etc.)
•    Oversee sowing, transplanting, pollination, and seed production
•    Supervise field and greenhouse crews
•    Work closely with greenhouse and field operations teams to ensure good plant health and organize needed activities
•    Proficiently use the internal breeding database for germplasm and data management
•    Manage seed inventories, seed-health testing, and shipments 
•    Interact with plant pathologists, geneticists, and other departments to support breeding projects 
•    Manage tissue sampling and submission of genotyping and pathology projects
•    Travel to domestic and international locations as needed to assist with evaluations
•    Provide periodic local support to other breeding programs as needed

Required knowledge & skills:

•    Possess practical horticultural knowledge 
•    Interest in a dynamic work environment where daily activity changes according to season 
•    Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously 
•    Flexibly manage change, delays, or unexpected events
•    Work efficiently under tight deadlines and manage time effectively
•    Possess motivation to learn and constantly improve processes and tools  
•    Demonstrate strong organizational skills and maintain a neat and orderly work environment 
•    Capable of working independently with minimal direct supervision as well as in groups
•    Accept personal responsibility for task execution and job performance  
•    Possess good interpersonal and team management skills
•    Possess effective written and oral communication skills
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
•    Proficiency in Spanish is desirable

What we expect of you

To be considered, you will need: 

•    BS in plant breeding, plant science, horticulture, or related discipline required
•    Prior experience in plant breeding, seed industry, or agricultural research highly preferred

HM.CLAUSE offers a strong compensation and benefits package to its employees:
•    Competitive salary
o    This position’s range is $70,400 - $72,000
Our total compensation and pay ranges reflect our market pay structures.  As such, individual salaries or hourly rates are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: local geographical market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as job related skills, education, and experience.
