Legal 

Main Goal

To provide support in Business Law and contribute to the smooth functioning of the legal department in India

Job description

 

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements
  • Manage the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle, including maintaining physical and digital archives, updating and standardizing templates, and ensuring timely updates in internal contract management systems/tools.
  • Prepare and maintain legal correspondence.
  • Administer the legal process for claims, including issuing legal notices, demand notices, and coordinating follow‑up actions until closure.
  • Develop, maintain, and circulate Management Information System (MIS) reports for all ongoing and concluded legal matters, ensuring periodic updates to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external counsel for litigation.
  • Represent the company as an Authorized Representative before courts, tribunals, quasi‑judicial bodies, and government authorities.
  • Support property‑related legal processes, including drafting, verification, and registration of leases and related property documentation.
  • Provide any additional support required by the team to facilitate smooth business operations.
  • Provide day‑to‑day legal advisory to stakeholders: Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, QA, R&D, HR and Regulatory teams.
  • Conduct legal awareness training
  • Draft, review, and update internal policies/SOPs.
  • Identify legal/compliance risks proactively, propose mitigation strategies, and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Support in Domestic Enquiries/Internal investigations/POSH if made part of the committee.
  • Perform Legal watch

 

INSURANCE:

  • Monitoring and managing all types of insurance policies (liability, property damage, transport, environmental, etc.), ensuring alignment of coverage with insured risks at both global and local levels, and optimizing costs.
  • Managing claims and serving as the primary point of contact for insurers and brokers in collaboration with the Group.
  • Providing regular reporting, analyzing legal risks, and recommending preventive actions.

SECRETARIAL: (OPTIONAL IF SEMI QUALIFIED CS)

  • Support in Secretarial Compliances under Companies Act and other applicable Acts with MCA & ROC.

BUSINESS SUPPORT

  • Raising awareness, training, informing, guiding, and ensuring proper adoption of legal standards by operational teams; supporting teams (Sales, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Finance, HR, etc.) with a pragmatic, business‑oriented approach; securing operations in an international environment and acting as a true Business Partner.
  • Collaborating with the Vegetable Seeds Division and the Group; actively participating in the implementation of Group legal standards.
  • Creating legal content for the divisions (procedures, best practices, case studies, simplified tools, etc.).
  • Analyzing risks and developing corrective action plans; innovating; applying key performance indicators; conducting audits with dedicated departments.
  • Contributing to a continuous improvement approach, using digital tools, and helping enhance tools and processes.
  • Maintaining ongoing legal monitoring is relevant to the role.
