Vos Missions

As part of our strategic development in omics approaches applied to vegetable seeds breeding, we are seeking a Project Scientist (Engineer or PhD-level) to play a key role in the structuring and development of innovative projects in biochemistry, phytochemistry, metabolomics, and proteomics.

 

This position is part of the consolidation of biochemical/phyto/omics activities within the Limagrain Vegetable Seeds (LVS). The successful candidate will support the deployment of trait deciphering and phenotyping projects, in collaboration with internal Discovery/Application teams and external partners.

 

Main Missions

  • Participate actively with the Team Lead and biochemistry team members for mapping the current landscape of biochemical, phytochemical, metabolomic, and proteomic activities (equipment, expertise, methods, internal/external collaborations), and propose strategic development areas.
  • Identify synergies and project opportunities with Discovery and Application teams across the LVS organization.
  • Promote and integrate phytochemistry, metabolomics, and proteomics tools into trait functional analysis projects, in close collaboration with Discovery teams.
  • Participate in designing research projects to identify integrative molecular signatures (metabolites, proteins, genes, markers) with discovery scientific teams.
  • Collaborate with functional genomics teams to propose integrated approaches combining biochemistry and reverse genetics to investigate target proteins.
  • Propose and implement technological innovations in close collaboration with Application teams within phenotyping platforms to enhance the integration and analysis of multi-omics data.
  • Identify and manage specialized external service providers for plant metabolomics and proteomics.
  • Establish scientific collaborations with academic laboratories, companies, universities, technology platforms, or research consortia.
  • Work closely with the study engineer to oversee experiments, disseminate results (technical reports, presentations), and ensure the quality of deliverables to internal teams.

Vos Compétences

Technical skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Plant biochemistry and phytochemistry techniques
    • Metabolomic analysis (targeted and untargeted): LC-MS, GC-MS, HPLC…
    • Plant proteomics: protein extraction, separation, identification, quantification
  • Proefficiency in data analysis : statistical and omics
  • Good knowledge of technology platforms and omics data integration methods

 

Cross-functional skills

  • Project design and research management
  • Scientific and technological survey
  • Scientific writing: reports, protocols, presentations
  • Collaboration building and project coordination
  • Management of analytical subcontractors and providers
  • Familiarity with phenotyping, omics, and analytical platforms

Preferred qualifications (assets)

  • Experience in seed science, varietal selection, or plant biology
  • Knowledge of regulations or quality standards in analytical laboratories
  • Experience in managing technical staff
  • Experience in sensory analysis for linking organoleptic traits supporting breeding programs and product quality optimization

 

Education

  • Master’s degree or PhD with with proven experience in:
    • Plant biochemistry, phytochemistry, metabolomics, plant biology, agronomic sciences, or closely related fields
  • Strong scientific English (written and spoken) required
