  • Vilmorin-Mikado in Limagrain group:

“Limagrain” is an international cooperative group created and directed by farmers. It is the 4th largest seed company in the world. Its business unit “Vilmorin-Mikado” is specialized in developing, producing and selling vegetable seeds for professionals, and in the production of tree seeds. Its mission is to offer innovative and sustainable solutions for the vegetable and horticultural sector.

  • Digital Phenotyping Team:

As part of the phenotyping of vegetables/fruits for variety selection, field trials are conducted to evaluate traits of interest (pepper and zucchini color here). Automation of the evaluation of these traits is necessary to improve the accuracy, genericity, objectivity, and speed of the selection process.

For this purpose, the “Digital Phenotyping Team" is in charge to develop automatized systems:

  • compact, portable and strong tools to acquire images in field (Compact SVS tool here)
  • image processing methods and algorithms to extract, correct and evaluate the relevant traits from acquired images (vegetable color here).

Vos Missions

During your internship, you will help the Digital Phenotyping to consolidate and validate the fruit color evaluation in field, using the Compact SVS tool and its image processing pipeline:

  • support our Users in the image acquisition in field/warehouse (possible trip in south of France)
  • check and prepare image datasets: statistics analysis (balance), cleaning (outliers) …
  • process images: pixel clustering with Machine/Deep Learning, color extraction, color correction …

Requirements:

  • Hard skills: RGB sensors, calibration, Python, OpenCV, Scikit-learn, pyTorch, Tensorflow, Pandas…
  • Soft skills: serious, conscientious, involved, and having a good contact with people
  • Language skills: good English level (writing, speaking, speaking)
